Theatre Work: 1967-77

Initial theatre work at Oxford University with future members of Monty Python team,in musicals and cabaret.Thereafter,Shakespeare productions including Twelfth Night, Hamlet, Henry V., with director Terry Palmer in Hoxton Theatre,East London and later at the opening production of the Key Theatre, Peterborough,as both composer/musician and actor.

Troubador Club: organiser of music shows at the renowned club in Earl's Court from 1968 to 1975.

Composition work: 1980 to date

Own songs and settings of Shakespeare, Poe, Villon, Yeats and Lorca.The Iranian singer Shusha recorded several of Tony’s Elizabethan settings on various albums on Durable Fire (Linnet Records,1983) and on Shusha (United Artists,1974)

 

Educational work/performances: 1990 to date

Extensive experience in various educational settings with adults and young people, performing and presenting shows created by and with the participants. A show is created using texts and stories from world literature, accompanied by music. In 2007 some of these shows were the subject of an inspired photography exhibition in Glór Arts Centre, Ennis by Ray Conway, photographer and film maker.

Festivals

In Ireland, at Triskel Arts Centre, Cork., Baboro, (Galway Arts Festival), Clifden Arts Festival, K.I.S.S. Festival, Co Kerry, Glastonbury 2009 - Fields of Avalon, Edinburgh Festival, Skagen (Denmark), Galway International Children's Festival, Belfast Arts, Donegal Arts, Kerry International Living Writers.  In Italy, numerous appearances at the Tratti Festival, Faenza and Folkest, Friuli.


Other appearances over the years include

Universities, Schools and small Theatre Clubs throughout Europe This includes work in Psychiatric Hospitals and Prisons. Also, in both parts of Ireland: Adult Workshops, Clare and Limerick Youth Services and Children's Book Festivals with Clare County Library and the Linen Hall, Belfast.
